The beginning.

Weekly Report: 2/26 - 3/4

I feel like things are finally in motion. I had a mentor visit last week and it really helped me get my head around my final product. After talking with Mr. Ekpete, I had some ideas on how I could implement a practical exoskeleton. He suggested placing the exoskeletal layer in between the fabric of the space activity suit, with little hook like objects that protrude through the SAS allowing loads to easily be attached to the suit such as the life support system and the liquid cooling and ventilation device. Additionally, the mentor visit taught me about different design software such as AutoCAD and CATIA, which can be used to construct my design. Furthermore, we discussed the transfer of the design onto the 3D printer software.

This upcoming week holds a lot of potential. I’ve got my tour of the Lockheed Martin facility coming up soon. This will be a great way for me to see how aerospace engineering is truly like in the real world. Although Lockheed focuses on aeronautical engineering, I am 100% sure the experience will blow my mind. I’ll get to see a F-35 and the idea of stepping foot onto such a massive facility that is pushing out real products that are used all around the world is fascinating. This kind of real world opportunities rarely come, so I am beyond glad to be able to partake in it.

Also got to meet my mentor’s wife and son - who is super cute by the way!
