This report includes everything from the week before thanksgiving break till now, so a lot has happened.
I interviewed Corrie Hunt who really helped me decide exactly what I wanted to do for my original work. After talking to her, I realized that I would rather focus on the astronautical side rather than the public policy side. She pointed out that I would encounter a lot of people who would discredit my findings, citing that I - as a woman - would have biased results when it comes to the gender disparity in engineering. This encouraged me to follow through with my passion for negating the effects of prolonged zero gravity on astronauts during a mission to Mars.
I reached out to John Harkins for any contacts or information he has relating to my original work and I plan on using these new contacts and articles to gain research on the current space suits and nutritional supplements used. I must first analyze the current solutions before coming up with my own design or proposal, so this is an important step.
I created my research showcase invitations on canva and stuck with my overall design and color scheme. I had to play around with the colors and designs until I found something that fit perfectly. I have come to realize a lot of time goes into the small things like colors, design, fonts, binder setup. In my mind they are all secondary minor tasks, but all of it matters and is important for my overall success.
Speaking of the showcase, it is coming up and this both excites me and stresses me out. There are only a few class periods before everything needs to be completed and finalized and everything is still unfinished. At the same time, all my work so far has been leading up to this showcase and I love seeing how everything comes together and culminates in a beautiful presentation that I can share with everyone. Also, I am beyond excited to invite every single person I know to this event.
